Hi, I’m Michelle Yui, your NEO Kimono Stylist.
The Shichi-Go-San (literally “Seven-Five-Three”) season has officially begun! It’s a traditional Japanese celebration held in autumn to mark the healthy growth of children—specifically girls aged 3 and 7, and boys aged 5. Families dress their children in beautiful kimono and often visit shrines for blessings and commemorative photos.
Last week, I had the pleasure of dressing two absolutely adorable little girls. At first glance, they looked like twins—but they were actually sisters just one year apart: the older one is three, and her younger sister will turn three soon. Their sweet bond and matching kimono made for the cutest scene.
What made this family especially memorable was that the father also wore a kimono, so all four family members were in traditional Japanese attire. It was such a heartwarming moment to see an entire family enjoy the cultural experience together—surely a memory they’ll treasure forever.
Even though the official celebration period is in October and November, the weather in Japan has been quite warm lately. More and more families are choosing to celebrate Shichi-Go-San in early December to avoid the crowds and enjoy a more comfortable experience.
If you’re still hoping to dress your little ones in kimono this season—don’t worry!
I still have a few openings towards the end of November.
Even if you think you might have missed the “right timing,” feel free to reach out.
Let’s make your child’s special day even more memorable with traditional kimono.
✨ I also offer kimono dressing (kitsuke) services in English, so international families are very welcome!
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
